Josh Flitter License To Wed
It was so great to play Robin Williams’s sidekick in this movie. I got the role of Choir Boy (yep, that's my name in the movie) when I was working on "Nancy Drew." I met the director of "License to Wed" (Ken Kwapis) at an audition and he loved me and picked me for the part.
"License to Wed" is about a couple, Ben and Sadie, who are newly engaged. Ben (John Krasinski) wants to get married in the Caribbean, but Sadie (Mandy Moore) dreams about having the ceremony at her family’s church. But the only open spot at the church for the next two years is in three weeks, so the pastor, Reverend Frank (Robin Williams), insists that they go through an intensive course to make sure they are fit to be married. As it turns out, Frank is quite eccentric—he makes my character break into their apartment and bug it so he can listen into their conversations, initiates arguments between Ben and Sadie, makes them take care of robot twins, creates tension between Ben and Sadie's family, and generally makes the next three weeks a living nightmare! Desperate to get things back to normal with Sadie, Ben tries to get some dirt on Frank. You’ll have to see the movie to find out how it ends; but let me just say it’s comic gold!
Working with Robin Williams was amazing. He's the greatest guy I've ever met. He's so generous, kind, and nice, and yet so incredibly famous. Everyone knows him, but he's still a normal, everyday guy at heart. He's my idol—hopefully someday I'll be as famous and as good a person as he is. People have asked me if it was hard keeping up with him, since he's known for being "on" all the time. I didn’t find it hard at all—whatever he said, I kept up with him 100 percent!
