Josh Flitter Nancy Drew
I landed the role of Corky in "Nancy Drew" when one of the producers saw me promoting "The Greatest Game Ever Played" on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." The original character was a nerdy 14-year-old kid, but the producer said he'd rewrite the whole part if I would do it. And he did! Now Corky's this cool kid with aviator glasses and a big leather jacket.
"Nancy Drew" is an update of the classic teen detective character from the 1930s. In the movie, Nancy (Emma Roberts) moves to Los Angeles with her father and finds that she’s living in the house of a murdered movie star. Although she's tempted to search for clues, she promised her dad she'd quit the "sleuthing business" and instead focus on school and making friends. She has a hard time fitting in with the mean girls at her new high school, but she finds a friend in my character, Corky, who helps her realize that sleuthing is what she loves and that she shouldn't give it up. When Nancy's boyfriend Ned (Max Thieriot) arrives for a surprise visit, the trio set out to solve the case.
I totally related to Corky's character—we're pretty much the same person. He's this happy-go-lucky, fun-loving guy, but as soon as danger came around, he got scared. But he hung in there and helped Nancy solve the case.
